Technology
Most of what I learn starts as a side project. I keep an eye on new frameworks and tools, though I would rather try one out on something small than only read about it. Hardware gets the same treatment when there is time for it.

Gaming
I have been playing games for about as long as I have been using computers — mostly story-driven ones, with the occasional competitive stretch, across PC and console. It is also where a couple of my side projects came from.
Game Release CalendarA side project of mine. It tracks release dates, prices and current deals across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch in one place.Visit the sitegamecalendar.vdvbert.comAnime
I watch a fair amount of anime, from older series through to whatever is currently airing. The art direction and the way the stories are paced are a large part of the appeal.
Manga
I read manga for much the same reasons, and often prefer it to the adaptation. I follow a handful of series at a time, usually a mix of long-running adventures and quieter slice-of-life ones.
