Privacy Statement

What happens to your data on this site

Who is responsible

This website is the personal portfolio of Bert Van de Vyver, based in Belgium. For any question about your privacy, email bertvandevyver@hotmail.com.

In short

No analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. This site only handles what your browser needs to show the pages, and what you choose to send through the contact form.

The contact form

When you send a message, your name, email address, subject and message are emailed to me through my mail provider. They are not stored in a database on this website. I use them only to answer you and keep the email for as long as the conversation needs it. The server records that a message was sent (time and message ID), not what it said. Legal basis: taking steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and my legitimate interest in replying (Article 6(1)(f)). To block spam, the server also keeps a scrambled marker of the sender's network address for a day.

Stored in your browser

Your language and light or dark theme are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them. They are not sent to the server, and you can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Visiting the site

Like every website, the server receives technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser, the page requested and the time. The hosting provider keeps this in server logs for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Links to other websites

Links to LinkedIn, app stores and my other projects open those websites in a new tab. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. Email bertvandevyver@hotmail.com. You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
